Dracula Densetsu was a very early Game
Boy release: the gameplay is slow and jerky, and all your character
can do is walk, whip, jump and climb ropes along four
very short and placid stages.
You couldn't do much on the old GB, so maybe it should be forgiven
for being comparatively bland. Its vastly superior sequel Dracula
Densetsu II (1991) does a lot better, but everyhting is so downgraded it feels like half a game.
Hell, the kiddies didn't care back then anyways. The Game
Boy was selling like hot cakes, so if the game made a few more people look into the series, that's a good thing.
Move along. Nothing here but a middle-of-the-road Game Boy game from 1989, with a half-decent soundtrack and a few precision
platforming moments. As a part of the Akumajō
Dracula series as a whole, it's down there with the more tedious chapters of the saga.
