Dracula II: Tactics
Here
is a brief and to-the-point guide that lists exactly where to go,
and how to find every item. In a sense, it belies how short and
linear the game really is, but hey - as a result it turns the game
into a pseudo-arcade experience, and that’s not necessarily
a bad thing.
Also, remember to hurry... Towns are closed at night, and
this guide assumes you are shaking a leg. In theory you should be
done in about 4 days. The 'good ending' appears when you destroy
Dracula in less than 6.

1.
Start on DAY-0 and head straight for the Jova Woods. The idea is
to spend the night collecting as many hearts as you can (and maybe
level up to L-01). As soon as morning breaks, return to Jova and
buy the WHITE CRYSTAL (50) and HOLY WATER (50). You can also pick
up a THORN WHIP (100) if you can afford it, but it really isn't
that essential.
2. You should reach Berkeley Mansion shortly after
noon on DAY-1. Equip the White Crystal upon entering: a moving platform
will appear. Inside, locate the Trader and buy his OAK STAKE (50)
- it will enable you to get DRACULA’S RIB (shield). Before
exiting the mansion, buy another Oak Stake and save up 200 hearts.
Don't worry about the clock: time stands still inside mansions.
3. Head for Veros, and quickly buy the DAGGER (50)
and CHAIN WHIP (150) before nightfall, using the Holy Water inside
the houses to find the hidden merchants. Then return to Berkeley
to get another 200 hearts. When done, head for Aljiba. On the way
along Dabi’s Path, some well-placed Holy Water will get you
the SACRED FLAME.
4. In Aljiba on DAY-2, buy some GARLIC (50) and
LAURELS (50) - two of each. Find the roaming knight: he will swap
his BLUE CRYSTAL for your white one. Lastly, quickly pick up the
SILVER KNIFE by dropping some garlic immediately at the entrance
of the Carmilla Cemetery.
5. Head downstairs, and kneel on the bank of the
Yuba Lake with the Blue Crystal equipped to access Rover Mansion.
Inside, find DRACULA’S HEART. Before leaving, pick up another
OAK STAKE, and level up to L-02. Return to Jova, and head West.

6.
Cross the Belasco Marsh by using Laurels, and equip Dracula’s
Heart before talking to the Dead River Ferryman: he will take you
to Brahms Mansion. Inside, defeat the Grim Reaper for a GOLDEN KNIFE,
and pick up DRACULA’S EYEBALL (lets you see hidden items).
Level up to L-03, and exit. Head West and pick up the DIAMOND from
the dead end, then double back and return to the river.
7. Don't equip the heart this time, and the ferryman
will take you to Alba. There a knight swaps your blue crystal for
a RED CRYSTAL. On sale are LAURELS (50) and GARLIC (50). Stock up
on Garlic (max 8) and move on. Take the stairs down and drop some
garlic in the Cemetery dead end for a SILK BAG.
8. Save up some cash in Sadam Woods before visiting
Ondol: the MORNING STAR (200) is on sale. Head West, and kneel down
against Deborah Cliff with the Red Crystal equipped to get to Bodley
Mansion.

9.
Bodley Mansion houses DRACULA’S NAIL. You can also level up
to L-04… Exit, and head west. Kneel down on the riverbank
with the Red Crystal equipped and Utah’s Path will appear,
home of the MORNING STAR POWER OF FIRE.
10. In Laruba Mansion, you’re up against
Vampira, a floating mask that when destroyed drops the MAGIC CROSS.
No contest: to the left of the boss room a tradesman gives you laurels
for free. Pick up the final body part, DRACULA’S RING, and
make your way out. This is the last mansion: you can level up to
the maximum L-06 if you feel so inclined, but it really isn't that
essential.
11. 12. 13. Nothing much going on East of Bodley...
Head for the Vrad Graveyard, and use Holy Water to get onto the
bridge. The final stage is deserted, and Dracula is a walk in the
park: use invincibility Laurels for an easy win.
