The
3DO caught everyone by surprise
with this superb port of SSFIIX.
It sure helped sell quite
a few 3DO machines back in
its day, along with a fair
amount of joysticks &
SFC controller adaptors (the
standard 3DO pad is 3-button
only).
With Capcom themselves at
the helm, nothing much could
go wrong: the playability
is flawless, and the CD soundtrack
has since become the benchmark
of the series.
A great version today!
Standard CD case, 3DO CD-ROM
disc, monochrome booklet,
spine card. |

The
PlayStation also gets its
share of Street
Fighter goodness with
the 3-in-1 'Collection' compilation:
- Super
Street Fighter II (1993)
- Super
Street Fighter II X (1994)
- Street
Fighter Zero 2 Dash (1997)
Again, SSFII and
SSFIIX are a little
jerky - here the hardware
struggles even more than the
SS. But the package is rescued
in style by the superb Zero
2 'Dash' - a vastly improved
version of the original PS
Zero 2.
Twin PlayStation case, PS
CD-ROM x 2, 48-page colour
manual, spine card. |

Following
the disappointing SS and PS
'Street Fighter Collection'
versions, players had to wait
until late 2000 for a decent port of SSFIIX
to appear.
The Dreamcast does the honours
this time, along with a few
minor 'Matching Service' online
features thrown in.
A very valuable release, still
very much in demand!

| Trying
to transfer SSFIIX's
subtle and complex gameplay
onto a tiny little handheld console could only
end in tears for all involved.
Jerky animation, poor collisions,
bugs, broken combos and infinites, 4-buttons
only... An idea that was doomed
from the start.
Only of interest for a couple of new stages, original
character art and value as
a collectible.
Standard GBA cardboard packaging,
64Mbit cartridge, colour booklet. |
